Happy New Year!
First we would like to thank everyone who so-generously helped with the Adopted Christmas Family! It felt so good to be able to give a family in-need an exceptional Christmas!
We were also overwhelmingly proud of all of the work that was done in preparation for International Night! What an incredible effort and turnout for that event! Thank you all so much, whether you helped supply items for the classroom, made food, or simply attended the event in support of the children and teachers--it was a fantastic evening!
As we move into the New Year there is a lot to look forward to! We are beginning to plan for the Annual Benefit/Auction (Saturday, May 5) and can use lots of help! If you would like to be on our planning committee, or if you (or someone you know) would like to offer a donation to our auction—it would be greatly appreciated!
February brings a couple of scheduled days off. Be sure to mark your calendar for the 10th and the 24th—there will be no school on either of those days. Also, the week of Feb 20-23 we will hold Parent Teacher Conferences and the Usborne Book Fair! Watch your email for additional info.
Since our typical Midwestern Winter seems to finally be setting in—we wanted to remind everyone of our Delay and Closing Procedures:
· The first thing to take note of is that if FWCS delays or closes for winter weather-our Early Care is immediately cancelled. This buys us a bit more time to evaluate whether we should delay or close the school.
· If there is a delay (1 or 2 hrs.) there is automatically no early care, and our half-day students will dismiss at 12:00 instead of 11:30.
· We will post our delays or closings by 6 a.m. We are listed on the major news networks, abc, NBC, and WANE TV. On the radio you will hear our delay/closings on WAJI, WLDE and WBCL. We will also post to our Facebook page and on the homepage of our website.
Have you heard? We have a new text-alert system for closings, delays and general reminders! You can opt in by texting the following codes:
